Fungi

Fungi are made up of a web of mycelium that are normally never seen. This complex web of the 'fungi' weaves through the forest floor, tree stump or rotting food. When conditions are just right it becomes sexually mature and sends the fruiting structure to the surface. This is what we see as the mushroom, breadmold or shelf-fungus. There are three types of fungus. Basidiomycetes are the typical mushrooms. Ascyomycetes are the shelf-fungi and yeasts and the Zygomycetes are the bread molds.
