3rd: :Seward: Halibut Fishing
(Rob)
Halibut fishing is a huge industry in Alaska. I can see why
now, after spending a day fishing. I can't believe how quickly our lines
were hit when we put them down! We pulled our small 28 foot boat to a
spot that was about 450 feet deep to fish for these bottom dwellers. Just
about as soon as we put the lines down, we got a hit! Then for the next
5 hours, we kept getting hit after hit. Sometimes the fish were halibut,
sometimes they were arrow-tooth flounder. We had to through back the flounders,
but we kept almost every halibut.
The day we went out could not have been better. The waters were calm
and still and the sky a beautiful blue. I even got a suntan when I took
off my shirt.
