Rock Dove
(Columba Livia)

Also known as the Domestic Pigeon, this bird has a wide variety of color forms. These are the same birds that are found in nearly every major US city. Originally from Eur-Asia and Africa, these birds were introduced to Honolulu in 1796.

On the University of Hawaii campus the rock doves are less common than the other major dove species. That's not to say they are uncommon though. It's fairly easy to find these birds nesting in the sides of building and under ledges on the campus structures.
