Karst formations are
part of a greater geological process, erosion. Rain is an amazing erosional
force. Water molecules are attracted and can dissolve many nutrients. Some
molecules such as Calcium Carbonate, (Limestone), are easily disolved in
water. Thus, an increased flow of fresh rainwater through a limestone bedrock
can create a limestone cave, as the CaCO3 is dissolved. This is part of
the process forming a Karst Cave.
This particular cave, like others, is illegal to enter. Care was taken only to view the cave from the entrance and not to disturb the creatures that dwell within. Because of this, we can not reveal the entrance to the cave. If you wish to learn more about this cave, we've listed some helpfull resources, and a detailed article by Leah Colucci |
