Diamond head was not the origional name for the tuff cone. Its origional name was given by Hawaiians as Lei ahi. Often interpreted as the ring (lei) of fire (ahi). | |

| To get to Daimond head from Waikiki take Kalakaua Av east to Diamond head road. Drive around the crater with it on your left. Turn left onto 22nd avenue and continue to keep the mountain on your right. Within half a mile you'll see the entrance to the crater marked on the left. Take this road through the tunnel and into the crater. The hike is well marked. Follow the crowd. | |
