Wild Chive: Allium schoenoprasum

Other names: garden chive.

This plant is similar to wild onions. Any of the wild forms of this plant can be consumed like the domesticated versions. They are used in salads, and eaten raw. Being a type of lily, it is very very important to be able to distinguish them from their deadly cousin, death camass. Death Camass is a wild plant that has distinctive white and green flowers. Its stems are flat and it lacks any scent. For more information, see the death camass.
