Ka'a'awa Peak stands in the back of Ka'a'awa town. The trail hikes up quickly from about 30 feet elevation at the base along a simi-slippery ascent to a military bunker at 577 feet and up to the top of the ridge that you can see from the town below at 1187 feet. This is not the top however. The trail continues further up to multiple peaks.

As seen from the two photos here, this trail is not for beginners. Its not a technical climb but has a few areas that are steep (below) and some areas that have extreme drop-offs to the left (above). Its a trail that if you were to slip you would surely die. Thus, it may not be a hike to take those that are unsure in their balance.

Ka'a'awa Ridge is located just behind the town of Ka'a'awa. From the town, there can be seen a cross set up on the side of the mountainside.

Ka'a'awa is a ridge hike located in the back of the valley. There are no trail head markers for this trail.

For those, however, that want a beautiful view for the least effort, this is one hike thats highly recommended. At a fast pace, the 1187 foot mark can be reached in half an hour. At a medium pace the up and back trip takes approximately an hour and a half.

Dominant vegetation is mostly large Octopus trees and Christmas berry. One noticable attraction on the trail are the Passion Vine fruitilary butterflies that are very abundant on the top of the ridge because of the pressence of their host plant, the passion-vine.
