Methods:

Each sample plot contained three quadrates. Each quadrate was 5 feet by 5 feet. Non-metric units were used because American lumber stores sell hardware in feet units and thus it was a decision based on logistics..

The Fence:

Fences (cages) were made from approximately 50' of coated nylon fishing net drapped around four 6' T-posts. T-posts were driven into the ground an additional foot so that they stood above water 5 feet. The mesh on the fishing net was 1/2" mesh netting that was specially selected to let all gobies enter or leave the area freely, but to restrict the movement of predators (A detailed report was written on the documented PREDATORS, ard a report written on the size to width ratios of GOBIES in the BAY to determine recommended Cage SIZE.)
